Microsoft Apologizes for Old Woman Joke on Twitter

28-01-2014

Microsoft has decided to apologize for turning to old woman jokes in order to promote its cloud computing service Windows Azure, while also removing previous tweets including that its products are so easy to use that even elders would love it. “What do you do when your 68 year old secretary needs Active Directory Multi-Factor Authentication? Ask Dear Azure,” the original tweet that has since been removed read. The community was quick to react and blast Microsoft for its campaign, which made some executives in the Redmond campus not only delete the original tweet, but also issue public apologies. “Our sincere apologies for the tweet and poor judgment it showed. It has been removed, thank you for calling it out,” the company explained.
