Imgur Launches Analytics Service To Track Viral Images

29-01-2014

Photo sharing service Imgur has launched an analytics platform that should help users track their images as they go viral. The new tool displays the total number of views over time, as well as views over time on an hourly basis. The best part is that the service is available to all users, but Pro users and advertisers will get access to slightly more data, such as referrer info, complete with data about when and where traffic comes from. “The goal behind this data is to be able to reconstruct the story behind an image; why the image went viral, how it went viral,” says Alan Schaaf, Imgur founder. The company has been attracting a lot of attention from brands that are looking to reach the massive audience the site gets, which is about 100 million monthly unique visitors. Last month, rumor had it that Yahoo was looking to buy Imgur, but so far, there’s been no other information about this particular deal.
