Mumbai: Tata Motors today launched the CNG version of its small car Nano at a starting price of Rs. 2.52 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Tata Motors claims a fuel economy of 36 km/kg for the CNG version of Nano. The new model can be started on CNG, not on petrol like other conventional CNG systems. To boost its popularity, Tata Motors is offering a warranty of up to 60,000 km or 4 years (whichever is earlier) on the CNG model of Nano. The CNG version of Nano has a range of 150 km and an additional 375 km (in petrol). The CNG model will be available across CNG markets like Delhi, Gujarat, parts of Maharashtra and Lucknow. The CNG version is powered by a sequential gas injection system and can automatically shift to the petrol mode if the driver needs more power. Ankush Arora, Sr Vice President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (Commercial), Tata Motors Ltd, said, "From its inception, the Nano has been a path-breaking invention and the CNG version only adds to that and also underlines our commitment to be a sustainable automotive player."
